At the Women's Health & Birth Center, Women receive excellent family-centered care in the safest, most nurturing environment possible. Our Certified Nurse Midwives--registered nurses with advanced training and board certification in pregnancy, childbirth, and gynecology--offer a more emotionally satisfying experience of pregnancy and childbirth without unnecessary technological intervention. At the WHBC pregnancy is considered a normal condition, not an illness, and the midwives devote extra time to education and to accommodating the mother's personal needs and desires. The WHBC provides:
  • A safe birth in a homelike setting without unnecessary medical intervention
  • A partnership with your provider in an atmosphere of mutual respect
  • Personal support that will help reduce anxiety and pain during labor and birth
  • An opportunity to experience your pregnancy and childbirth in an emotionally positive way
  • Support by a registered nurse during and after your birth. Home visits by an RN are a routine part of our care after your delivery, and a certified lactation consultant is available to help if breastfeeding concerns arise.
  • Trained labor assistants (doulas) are available for all WHBC clients at no additional charge
  • Midwifery care and support even if your situation requires transfer to the hospital. our midwives have privileges at Sutter Medical Center (formerly Community Hospital) of Santa Rosa.
  • A number of physicians have delivery privileges at the WHBC. If you prefer, your obstetrician or family physician may be able to attend your birth at the WHBC.
